Chic Summer Staples

Hi everyone!! I am back today to show off my most recent Abercrombie order! Since living abroad for 4 months, I definitely had to learn to minimize my closet and get used to wearing the same things different ways. To be completely honest, I RARELY repeat outfits and I'm not always particularly great at mixing items once I have already mentally paired them with their best match. This leads to a lot of clothes and the constant drama of "I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!!!" when we ALL know that's not true.

After getting used to mixing and matching in Italy, I made it one of my summer goals to purge my closet and collect all the basic pieces I'd need to create the perfect wardrobe. I want to have a wardrobe of timeless and quality pieces that will last me years to come. I am tired of keeping up with trends and constantly cycling pieces in and out. I want to have a staple wardrobe with endless possibilities of Sofia Richie-inspired outfits! In my chic coastal granddaughter era?

Abercrombie is soooo underrated. I waited for a good sale and have been gradually scooping up some of these basic staple items. Many of them are fairly inexpensive and things that I can see myself wearing constantly. As you can see, I am clearly a neutral girlie!

I did find myself initially gravitating towards trendier pieces, so I made some compromises. I've been seeing the long white denim skirts everywhere, but I knew I'd wear that once and call it a day when the trend dies out in a month. Instead, I got a linen skirt that I could see myself wearing on vacations, special occasions, and day-to-day cute outfits. It was a much more practical investment!!

Shop all of these pieces here and let me know if you want to see how I style everything! Thankfully everything fits perfectly and the quality is top notch, but I am definitely going to have to attempt to put some outfits together to show everything off. This would actually be a super cool capsule wardrobe? Let me know if you'd be interested for a Sofia Richie-inspired timeless capsule wardrobe! 😆

I originally wasn't planning on it when I typed up this post, but I had some extra time this weekend to take some photos in these clothes! I was going to try to get some mirror photos like the old days, but thought I'd up my game a little with my on-hand professional photographers (Eva & Gemma). Enjoy!!😆

DENIM JEANS: I wanted to get a solid pair of regular wash jeans without holes. I figured that is slightly more sophisticated for this new wardrobe of mine. Plus, I already have a decent pair of ripped ones. I got this pair in a size 26 long! Loving them already.

BLACK POOFY SLEEVE TOP: This top is sooo me. I love being extra but staying in the Bella Color Wheel of black, white, brown, beige, leather, and denim!!! 😆 This is such a simple but chic outfit that's great for summer nights out at a restaurant or going for drinks with friends! I am wearing a small!

BLACK TOP: You may be thinking that you accidentally clicked a random link to Sofia Richie's instagram, but it's actually just me still!! Jk jk, but this is such a South of France outfit that I could totally see the new "it girl" slaying. This is a simple black linen tank that is so easy to mix and match. Size small!

WHITE LINEN SKIRT: I am loving this white linen skirt. Like I talked about earlier, I originally wanted a white denim skirt, but I knew something linen like this would get more wear and be a lasting item. I love styling it with basic/simple tanks but I could also see this looking adorable with the black puffy sleeve top from the last outfit. Size small!

GRAPHIC TEE: This tee says "It's hard being the best dressed but someone has to do it" and I have never heard a more accurate statement... LOL. I knew I needed this tee when I saw it on Abercrombie which was shocking because I'm not usually a graphic tee lover. I find them hard to style especially if they're not extremely oversized. Thankfully this is such a simple shirt to rock and I just HAD to have it. Graphic tees with phrases aren't typically THAT cute, but this one was major. This is already slightly oversized so I just stuck with a size small for wearability.

GREY DENIM SHORTS: I was hesitant about buying these shorts but I am so glad I did. I thought they were cute but wasn't sure how much I'd love them in person. But, they were one of the only pairs left in my size during the Abercrombie sale so I just went for it! I love them so much. They fit great and I love that they're a different take on a classic pair of denim shorts. Wearing a 26!

GREY TANK: Does it get more classic than this tank? I recently bought one like this from Aerie but didn't realize it has a built in bra... so it has become more of a sleep/lounge tank! Since I loved it so much, I knew I needed to grab one from Abercrombie, without the built in support of course. I've already worn the heck out of this tank and there are seriously so many ways to style it. This isn't something I'd expect to receive compliments for because it's so simple, but I have already received a few! Size small!

VEGAN LEATHER SHORTS: This item might be classified as "trendy", but I justify this purchase because of how often I wear my leather pants. I think they might be the most worn item in my entire closet. I obviously NEEDED to snag the shorts version for summertime so I can wear leather bottoms all year round! I got both a size 26 and 27 in these to see which I preferred, and they both fit great with minimal difference.

GREY TANK: Repeat alert!!🚨🚨 This grey top is just too good, but I won't repeat myself!

WHITE JEANS: I have been searching high and low for a good pair of white jeans. I finally made the executive decision that I need to purchase my jeans in the "long" length because the regular length jeans are just a little too short on me. Every pair turns into ankle cut. I got a size 26 long and they fit perfectly!!

I am so happy to be back in the swing of it with a fashion-related blog post! Trying on all of these clothes and having a backyard photoshoot was just what I needed this weekend as a break from the new 9-5 that is actually 7:30-4:30!🙃 But anything to fund some fun pieces coming to you at the end of summer!😉😉

I have half of my London post that I still have to finish up... don't worry I haven't forgotten the travel stuff I owe you!

Thanks so much for reading! PS- I hope you like the new look of the blog, I have worked hard to get it to feel more "me". 😊😊
