Happy February everyone!! I can't believe January came and went as fast as it did. Time got away from me the first two weeks because I was trying to spend every last minute with my friends & Andrew before everyone went back to school. After everyone left, I decided to let myself enjoy the remainder of my break and take the rest of the month off from posting.
I was originally supposed to head back to school January 30th, but of course that didn't happen. Bucknell has their students all take 2 at-home COVID tests before returning to campus. I shouldn't have had to take them since I had COVID in December and should be clear until mid-March, but student health told me to take them anyways. I tested negative on my first test and then positive on the second one, a day before I was supposed to move in. They considered a positive a positive, even though it takes 3 months for the virus to leave your system. Longgg story short, I am still home but will get to move in this coming weekend!
Classes did start yesterday, the 1st, and everything is going well so far. I am pretty excited to be back on a schedule and develop my daily routine with all of my new classes. I have a really good feeling about all of my spring semester classes!
With that being said, I'm not exactly sure how routinely I'm going to be posting. Since I've been home since October, I was able to post weekly (+ some bonus posts) throughout the end of 2020 I believe. I'm not going to make any promises, but I will say that I am going to do my best to post as often as I can. My biggest priority with the blog is making quality content that you all will enjoy, rather than just posting whatever weekly. I'm considering doing weekly recaps, so let me know at the bottom of this post if that's something you'd be interested in reading. If you could care less, that's totally fine too, just tell me!
Getting into today's post, I quickly put together a very simple Valentine's Day makeup look. I don't usually wear a ton of makeup, just a tinted moisturizer and mascara. But when I do wear more, this is about the average amount I'll put on. This look is very simple and pretty subtle, but you can add your own touch to it to make it more dramatic if desired. I'm going to share my favorite makeup products and some tips that I use to apply! This honestly takes me less than 10 minutes and could be worn any day of the year, not just Valentine's Day!
First I'm going to include this diagram of all the products I use! I'll link everything with the coordinating letter in the photo. Then I'll go through my step by step process! :)

STEP 1
Moisturize!! I am terrible at remembering to moisturize but thankfully I've been blessed with good skin that is used to my lacking treatment! I don't usually use it tbh unless my skin is feeling dry. But I thought I'd include it for anyone who uses foundation over a tinted moisturizer like I'll be using.
STEP 2
I have been using the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue tinted moisturizer since I was 13. It's my absolute favorite because you can put it on as heavy as you want. For lighter days I use about a dime's size on my hand, and for heavier days I can cake it on as much as I'd like. It truly has really great coverage. When I'm pale I use the shade 01 in opal, but when I have my face tanned I use the shade 02 vanilla. One of these lasts me awhile, depending on how frequently I wear it obviously. I'd say they last an average of 2 months maybe? I apply it with the smoothing face foundation brush.

This is what I look like with a full face of complexion rescue! I am sorry I look weird in some of these pictures, I used a new ring light and I'm not sure how I feel about it haha! And I am not usually a "selfie taker" so I look super awkward in some of these! Just ignore😂
STEP 3
Concealer! I add concealer to any spots I'd like to cover but also to areas I'd like to brighten up. This would be my under eyes, the lower bridge of my nose, and above my lip. I use the Bare Minerals Complete Coverage liquid concealer in the shade fair and I blend with my KKW Beauty concealer brush.

STEP 4
While my tinted moisturizer and concealer sets and dries a little, I like to do my brows! I use this Benefit tinted brow gel in color 2. I shape my brows the way I'd like, usually going upwards and then bringing down the outer wing a little. I have used this Benefit gel for years and years and I love it. It goes on super nicely and usually just gets color on the brow hairs themselves rather than the skin, so it looks super natural.

STEP 5
Now it's blush time! A lot of my friends don't wear blush but I've always loved to. I prefer mauve colors rather than super poppy pinks. I use the shade on the mauve by Bare Minerals. I've had this blush for wayyy too long haha I definitely need to buy a fresh one. It's my all time fav. In the pic below I have it on the right side of my face and you can definitely see the subtle but great difference adding a little color makes... especially when it's Valentine's Day!!

STEP 6
I love adding a little highlight to parts of my face for a glowy look. I usually apply it above my lip, the tip of my nose, and underneath the arch of my brows. I'll include a diagram to show you below. But since I was doing a heavier look in this, I did put it above my cheekbone where highlighter traditionally goes also. I use the Tarte Amazonian clay highlighter in the stunner shade.

STEP 7
EYESHADOW!! Wearing eyeshadow is my favorite. I love putting it on, it's so much fun and you can do so many different things with it. For today's look, I used my favorite eyeshadow palette, the Urban Decay Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette. First, I cover my whole eyelid in the hot spot shade. Then I go in the crease and outer corners with the beautiful juicy shade. You could also use the feelz shade if you want it to look a little darker. At the end I lightly went over my outer corners with the ambitious shade to finish it off. The best thing about this palette is the brush that comes with it. The fluffier side of the brush can be used for everything I described. Next, I use the smaller side of the brush with the shade juicy and add some color underneath my lower lashes. I love doing this and think it's what takes your eyeshadow look to the next level. You can play around so much with this palette to create multiple different looks.
At the end, I use a finger to apply some of my Tarte highlight to the inner crease. AND/OR you can use something like this ELF liquid eyeshadow glitter. This is my favorite. I used it all the time in the summer and at school. This is what my eyes look like when finished:

STEP 8
Mascara! I use this $5 essence Lash Princess mascara from Amazon. I also swear by the Bare Minerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara. I start by applying to both sides top lashes only. I apply heavily on the ends and I make sure to cover the backside of the top lashes as well. I apply with my head angled upwards. You can see in the photo above how much of a difference even a light coat on the upper lashes makes. I let that dry and apply lip gloss or just sit and wait. Then once they're dry, I go back and apply heavily to my bottom lashes while I angle my head downwards. If my lashes get stuck together, I brush through them with a brow brush once the mascara is dried.
STEP 9
You may have already done this like I did, but at or near the end I do my lips! I usually use a clear gloss like this Kopari coconut lip glossy on a day-to-day basis. But something like the Glossier Balm Dotcom in cherry would be a great alternative. The cherry color scared me at first, but it's shocking natural and subtle when you use it. I use it super frequently, when I thought I'd never be able to wear it at all! And both of these glosses smell AMAZING.
And that's it for makeup!
HAIR
I saw Hailey Bieber rock this hairstyle and it spread pretty quickly. It's sooo easy. It's literally just two little braids in the front of your hair. It's so self-explanatory, I'll just include some pictures of me doing mine. I pulled my braids apart a little at the end for extra volume. You can curl, straighten, wave, or style the rest of your hair however you'd like. If you do, I'd say to probably do it before you braid so the ends of the braids will match the rest of your hair!

And just like that this super simple Valentine's Day look is complete! I had a lot of fun doing this post even though the up close pictures of my face totally stress me out... hahaha! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post and please let me know if you like makeup-related content and would like to see more. Also let me know if there's any way that I could change a makeup post like this to be easier to follow or better to understand.
As always, thank you for following along with my blog and for always keeping up with posts. See ya next time!
